Through original reporting, conversations, and carefully considered recommendations, we explore the ideas and questions that shape our families—from pregnancy, birth, and child development to education, health, food, home, and culture.

We believe mothers deserve thoughtful sources without being told there is one right way to live. Great Mother exists to seek out what is useful, beautiful, enduring, and worth knowing, and to give women the information and inspiration to decide what belongs in their own families.

Founded by Brooke Baldwin, a former finance professional turned birth and postpartum doula, Great Mother grew from her fascination with the many ways women create families, homes, traditions, and lives. She lives with her family on the California coast.
